BIG DATA: Using Clinical and Business Information to Inform Decision Making
Tuesday, January 24
5pm – 9pm
Elmhurst Memorial Hospital
Arboretum Center
155 E. Brush Hill Road, Elmhurst, IL
Healthcare organizations are currently focused on implementing systems and processes in order to meet regulatory requirements such as Meaningful Use and ICD-10. It is important however to remember that the ultimate goal is not just to implement a system, but to create an environment where information is readily available to inform and to improve clinical and business decision making.
Panelists will provide case studies of healthcare organizations that are actively using infor mation to improve quality and increase efficiency. The case studies will address information collection and reporting processes, staff training, performance measurement, and incentives approaches. The case study presentations will be followed by a facilitated discussion with the audience.
Speakers include:- Dr. Michael McKenna, Vice President, Medical Management, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital
- Dr. David Liebovitz, Chief Medical Officer, Northwestern Medical Faculty Founda tion

3rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
WITH THE MERCY HOME FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

GCCHIMSS members joined other local Chicago healthcare professional associations - Chicago Health Executives Forum, Metropolitan Healthcare Council, and Illinois Chamber of Commerce Healthcare - on December 7, 2011 to give back to the community and acknowledge the important role that Mercy Home plays in Chicago. Over 75 people came together for networking, learning about Mercy Home’s impact, touring the Home, and contributing over $3,000 in donations.
Mercy Home for Boys & Girls has been a solution for kids in crisis since 1887. Through their residential, aftercare, referral and community-based mentoring programs, they provide critical life-saving services to more than 650 hurting and troubled young women and men every year. At the core of these services is their full-time residential program, which provides around-the-clock care in a safe and stable home for 134 young people ages 11 to 21. Children who have suffered abuse, neglect, poverty and abandonment are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives and the encouragement to realize their dreams. Through therapeutic, academic and vocational support, Mercy Home helps them grow into healthy adults who go on to pursue higher education, secure good jobs, and raise loving families of their own.
As a result of the event, these local healthcare professional associations pledged to coordinate a healthcare career day for residents of Mercy Home who are interested in healthcare careers or are seeking advice regarding selecting a profession. These professional associations propose to offer their collective expertise and wisdom through a half-day panel and small group discussions to encourage the children to consider what professions they will pursue as young adults. Stay tuned for more information about this great way to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of many.
