GCC HIMSS - Association Chapter News, Fall Newsletter November 14th, 2006

President's Welcome
A Message From the GCC HIMSS President
Fall is here and your GCC HIMSS Board is working hard to provide more benefits than ever to our membership this year.

Register now for our next program on Friday, November 17th. Our fall program features a distinguished panel of five healthcare leaders from our Chicago Provider Organizations who will be discussing IT Governance. Dave Garets, CEO and President of HIMSS Analytics, will provide us with an overview of recent studies around IT Governance and then facilitate a C-Suite Panel to gain insight into IT Leadership and Governance in provider organizations here in Chicago. For a detailed agenda and registration, please visit our Website www.gcchimss.net .

Our first program of the year was the 2006 Fall Technology Conference October 2, 3, 4, which we co-sponsored with the Wisconsin Dairyland and Southeast Wisconsin Chapters. It was a successful conference with over 200 in attendance and positive evaluations from the attendees. For copies of the presentations given at the educational sessions, please go to www.2006falltechnology.com . We have already started planning the 2007 Fall Technology Conference and hope to involve more chapters next year!

Our winter program is targeted for Thursday, January 24, 2007. We hope to feature National HIMSS at this program and put together a panel of executives from the major EMR vendors to discuss their strategy and challenges in supporting the national agenda with their software. However, we are still open to program topics, so please send your ideas to our Education Program Director, Lydia Lindholm at llindhol@nmh.org

Last, but not least, our 2nd Annual Nursing Informatics Program will be held in the spring on Thursday, April 26, 2007. In April of this year, our Nursing Informatics subcommittee delivered an excellent program, “Nursing Informatics: Fostering Excellence in Care”, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Dairyland Chapter and the National Nursing Informatics Task Force. The program drew over 125 attendees, including HIMSS members from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and more!

Please be sure to check out our new Website at www.gcchimss.net. If you have any questions or ideas as to how to improve the GCC HIMSS Chapter, please feel free to contact me any time at dawn.mitchell@healthiaconsulting.com or (312) 925-9272.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our 2006-2007 programs!

Warm Regards,

Dawn Mitchell
President, GCC HIMSS
